Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Georgetown rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Georgetown. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Bungalow at the Bay 3 Bedroom Vacation Home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
