Strategies for getting the best rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Georgetown, SC area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. River Front House on Black River in Georgetown SC has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
