Tricks and tips to get the optimal Georgetown, SC rental home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the best rental in the Georgetown, SC area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Island House Updated DeBordieu Home just steps away from the beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Georgetown, SC destination you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Have a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
