Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Georgetown. Book your Georgetown, SC rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Georgetown, SC area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Island House Updated DeBordieu Home just steps away from the beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
