Tips and Tricks to get the best Georgetown, SC vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Georgetown, SC rental:
- First, have your group agree to a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Island House Updated DeBordieu Home just steps away from the beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
