Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To find the best value, change your family's Georgetown, SC vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Georgetown, SC visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing and booking the rightvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Enjoy Ocean Eyes in DeBordieu! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Georgetown, SC vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Georgetown, SC destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
