Tips and Tricks for getting the best Georgetown, SC rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Georgetown, SC area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Georgetown, SC area. Reserve your Georgetown, SC rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Georgetown, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • To start, have your group commit to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Live Oak Lodge at Mauresina River Plantation has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
