Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Georgetown, SC area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Baxter's Brewhouse Inn Bed and Brew has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
