Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- In the Georgetown, SC area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Georgetown, SC restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Georgetown, SC area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. A home and hopefully your happy place! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
