Getting the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Georgetown, SC area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking the bestrental:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Carolina Dreamin' Beautiful southern home in DeBordieu -Great for families! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
