How to find the best rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Natural and Serene Home Away from Home has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
