Our top Georgetown vacation rental booking tips:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Georgetown, SC rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Berry Restful - Debordieu Property, Dog Friendly has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before booking the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Georgetown, SC destination you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
