Georgetown vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Georgetown, SC vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Georgetown, SC area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best vacation home in Georgetown:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Carriage House102 at Wedgefield Country Club has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a particular Georgetown, SC beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
