Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Georgetown. Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Georgetown, SC vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Georgetown, SC area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Georgetown, SC area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Legasea DeBordieu Home LegaSea Spectacular porches Close to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Georgetown, SC attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
